First of all, yes I am currently watching Zan Zetsubou Sensei, and no, I am not insane. (This post is about Episode 3 if you’re wondering.)
Switches, Third Options and Excessive Caring Guardians. This is what this episode is about.
Warning: This episode contains explicit switches, stealthy third options and excessive caring guardians.
Summary:
Actually, there isn’t really much to summarise in Zetsubou Sensei for me since the whole entire series is all episodic (well, some have some sense of plot…), and recently splitting the episode into individual parts, like you see in American made cartoons with two stories in one episode. Moving onto the first part…
Prologue:
Of course, like the previous 2 episodes, the episode starts off with a monologue from either the manga or some place else…

Part 1 – “The Tragedy of X”:
With a giant Christmas tree being set up in the local shopping district with Christmas coming close by, Sensei thinks that flipping the switch to turn on the Christmas lights every time at the end of the year is pointless, then goes on rambling that everybody has a switch somewhere inside them that will be easily triggered through physical/verbal actions and such.

Part 2 – “I Cannot Make the Resolution Return to Japan”:
In this second part Zetsubou Sensei explains/rants why people often decide whether to choose one of their two options, then ending up choosing a third option. That’s basically about it.

Now its time for the trademark despair pickup-line sequence.

Nicely done in unison.
Part 3 – “Doctor’s Excessive Care”
In this 3rd and last part of this episode, the class is out at the beach (even though in the first part it was winter), and with a stunt double of Zetsubou Sensei playing beach ball with the girls, the real Nozomu can relax at ease, but thinks that this is an act of excessive care, and goes on rambling on about everything or object the world today are protected with excessive care.
Out of the blue, Sensei’s sister, Rin, shows up and tells him that the “Guardian’s Club” has opened up, with Nozomu intimidated by the sudden news since he believes that they are the true people who introduced “excessive care” to the world and also get aggressive when they get agitated. But with his “stunt double” unconscious when he got shot by Maria, he has no other choices than to enter the club hut. Where he meets a number of people who take “excessive care” a “bit too far”.

And now for the episode’s climax which will most probably not continue in the next episode and move onto something else.

Oh what will Zetsubou Sensei do???

And that ends another refined episode of Zetsubou Sensei. Just like any other episode, its all made of win and complete randomness. With the next episode coming out…. well today (if you’re reading this on the day its published) it seems that the legacy will continue.
So until then~
