Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo Co., Ltd. has released an official statement announcing plans to release a new handheld system, tentatively given the name Nintendo 3DS. It is said to produce 3D effects without the need for glasses. The handheld is also backwards compatible with the library of Nintendo DS and DSi titles. Further details are set to be revealed at this year’s E3, which will be held from June 15th to the 17th.

Official announcement

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (Minami-ward of Kyoto-city, President Satoru Iwata) will launch “Nintendo 3DS” (temp) during the fiscal year ending March 2011, on which games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses.

“Nintendo 3DS” (temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed “Nintendo DS series”, whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125 million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed.

We are planning to announce additional details at E3 show, which is scheduled to be held from June 15, 2010 at Los Angeles in the U.S.

– Nintendo Co., Ltd.

The Nintendo DS is the successor of the Game Boy Advance set of gaming systems, first released in 2004. Its notable feature is its pair of screens, one of which is a touch-sensitive. Two years after its launch, the Nintendo DS Lite, a slightly smaller version of the original DS, started to be sold. The Nintendo DSi soon followed in 2008. While this system is no longer capable of playing the Game Boy Advance games, it does allow players to download games via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, among other new features. In late 2009, a bigger DSi, the Nintendo DSi XL (known as the “Nintendo DSi XL” in Japan) was released.

Final Fantasy XIII Getto Da Ze!

It’s March 9th, and if you’re some Final Fantasy fag then you may already found out that FFXIII comes out today in the Western World for 360 and PS3!

Strangely for me, who is not really that much fond of the Final Fantasy series, decided to actually preorder the game (for Xbox 360) for some random inexplicable reason. Being today the initial release, the game came flying through my front door’s mail hole (cuz I’m in England and we don’t have mail boxes HAH!).

Yes, SCREW SANKAKU with its dramatised bullshit; claiming that the 360 version is inferior to the PS3 and having it compressed to three disks like how Xvid is undeniable inferior to MKV/h264s I can do whatever I want (nyahaha).

Defeated the Endless Eight, Now onto the Final Boss!

Another Pokemon Platinum post update from me. After 5 months or so of hiatus due to lack of motivation and the addiction I’m having of Eternal Sonata and X Blades atm I have finally returned to the game, finally beating all eight gym leaders! And yes, the iconic Haruhi reference in the post title imo. But it nicely fits in with the eight gym leaders I have to defeat in the game, and believe it not, truly endless indeed.

A Little Update (Just a little, I swear!)

Apologies for the lack of any new content on this blog to feast your eyes upon to this last week. Its been a tough 2/3 to week for me, just experienced my first proper exam (Mathematics to be precise) at high school (also nice timing since it was on Friday 13th). Meaning I was crazily revising/studying for the past week or so. Also adding a few homework assignments I’ve been given (-1).

By the way, the exam was easy at first but when came to the last question on the paper, -didnt knew the answer- and I was all like FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-. In my mind btw, not out loud (due to obvious reasons). The only good thing about the exam was that several people’s desk collapsed and everyone around almost bricked about it…haha

Newtype Magazine October 2009

Time for a general animu otaku post since… forever eh? And does this make me an official die-hard otaku? Nahh…. Heh heh…

So the deal was this, while trolling around in the streets of London last Sunday, for some apparent reason I come home with the latest issue of “Newtype Magazine” and the Light Novel Anthology “Dragon Magazine”. Déja vu? Nah just kidding, I happened to look around in Japan Center. A Japanese Import shop, selling many Japanese food, drinks and snacks, general household products imported and books (+manga) and magazines imported from Japan as well. Looking around for the new volume (21) of Hayate, I was deeply saddened finding out that its coming out in mid October. Meaning I was not going out empty handed oh no. So I might as well buy the latest issues of Newtype Magazine and a random Light Novel Anthology Magazine which at first thought it was a Manga Magazine like Shonen Sunday -_-. By the way I’m still a n00b at reading Japanese so I just looked at the pretty pictures and illustrations, just to let you know first.

Flicking through the pages in Newtype, I soon to notice that many of the pages were just reviewing the new Anime that’s coming up in the Fall Anime line up. Such as Seitokai no Ichizon, Letterbee, Fairy Tail and many more. And also running and recently finished airing Anime including Umineko, Shangri-la and Canaan. Just by judging from the front cover as you see above (Mikuru-chan in the classic Japanese PE uniform as seen the “Sigh” Arc) the main feature of this issue was mainly about Haruhi, including some interview from the director I believe to many screen shots from the “Sigh” Arc as well.

Many fold out posters are present as well, a double sided poster (Eden of the East + Spice and Wolf) at the front pages and another double-sided (Gundam) poster at the back. Not only the main attractions but the magazine also includes some topics about recent Conventions that took place and some columns from the journalists/staff at Newtype relating to Anime. A 100-page Evangelion fanbook is also included in Newtype, including Fanart from die-hard Eva fans, articles upon the upcoming releases and the second film, and lastly many interviews with seiyuus and directors who took part in the production.

Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver North America/Europe Release Dates Confirmed

Kotaku – Pokémon Heart And Soul Laid Bare This Spring

Due out in Japan next month, Nintendo has just announced a spring 2010 release target for the North American and European remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver for the DS.

Johto – I’m still in Johto. Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, two of the most ridiculous names we’ve ever come across, are remakes of the original Pokémon Gold and Silver, with updated graphics and sound, touch screen features, and “a host of surprises.” The announcement of the Western release was made during the opening of the 2009 Pokémon World Championships, which one would imagine is a pretty big deal to Pokémon fans.

“Announcing these much-anticipated game launches at The Pokémon World Championships allows us to give the news directly to the legions of fans who represent the true heart and soul of Pokémon,” said J.C. Smith, The Pokémon Company International’s director of marketing, who made the announcement on stage to kick off the 2009 Pokémon World Championships. “We want to thank these loyal fans by revealing the details to them first.”

I generally pick up any Pokémon title Nintendo tosses my way reflexively, but they may have lost me here. I cannot buy anything with the words HeartGold or SoulSilver on it. It makes them sound like the type of Pokémon games Twilight characters would play.

Giratina Capture Operation Complete

DSC00869

Guu… Too much happened yesterday while I was at a farewell party for my cousins, as they were going to fly back to Germany after their 3-week Summer holiday. But it was also a good time to catch up on some goold ol’ Pokémon Platinum action. And I have to say, I did a LOT in the 4 or 5 hours of game time.

  • Defeated Jupiter at Lake Acuity
  • Raided the Galactic HQ in Veilstone
  • Defeated Cyrus and bagged myself a Master Ball from him.
  • Rushed through Mt. Coronet/defeating the Galactic Grunts along the way with NO MAP HELP AT ALL. I’m just that awesome 8D
  • Defeated Mars and Jupiter simultaneously in a double battle (Ryuichi (My rival) was no help at all =P)
  • Kept my sanity while figuring out a passage way through the Distortion World and knowing which direction goes when I’m upside-down/side-ways…
  • Pwned Cyrus AGAIN in the Distortion World while he legs it into the unknown…
  • Captured Giratina in a PAINSTAKINGLY battle that lasted for 27 minutes. Literally.
  • After the whole saving the world thing, I went out of my way to capture Uxie in another EXPENSIVE BATTLE (I’ll explain later) and setted Mesprit loose in Sinnoh as I attempt to lure her out and capture her.
  • Azelf is ONE GOD DAMN BASTARD when it comes to capturing him, seriously I literally used over 70 Dusk Balls on it when it was at the lowest HP, possible (1 pixel width of red) and loads of Potions and MooMoo Milk on Len (Staraptor). After 40 minutes I had to bail out and turn off (I saved beforehand) the DS just to take deep breaths and to keep my sanity. -sigh-

The Climax is Finally Starting

darkrai
Its been a while since my last Pokemon Platinum adventure update post, and due to my insufficient time of taking time playing the game (Marathoning animu at the moment.) I’m still in the first stage of the game (The gym leaders and Team Galactic’s shenanigans). But due to a 2-day1-night stay over at my cousins far far away (The reason why there aren’t any updates for the last 2 days…), I had the opportunity to make some progress advancing through the game, so now I’m going to go through the significant achievements I made the past 48 hours.

Note: Includes notes at the end of the post.
